Dr Oz

“America’s Doctor,” Dr. Mehmet Oz, has recently announced that he intends to run for a Senate seat representing the state of Pennsylvania. Although Dr. Oz is no stranger to appearances on news networks – typically to discuss medical issues, on an episode of Hannity, Dr. Oz spoke to one issue that could affect the health of Americans, but also the safety and economic situation of Americans as well.

Dr. Oz spoke to Sean Hannity about the current situation at the southern United State border, particularly President Biden’s current immigration policies, calling them “disastrous.”

Dr. Oz noted that an open border policy much like what the United States has experienced in this first year of Biden’s presidency has multiple issues. He noted that the drug cartels have utilized the border to both smuggle drugs (fentanyl isn’t the only drug coming across the border, but it is killing Americans at a staggering rate) and to smuggle humans as well. Dr. Oz also spoke to a situation which hasn’t been spoken of by the mainstream media – middle-of-the-night flights sending illegal immigrants to various cities across the country.

Dr. Oz made a pointed comparison between one of his protocols as a surgeon – to shine a light on a wound – and the handling of the border by the Biden Administration. Oz stated that Biden’s failed border policy is “obfuscating, clouding the view, darkening the room, and hiding dangerous ramifications” (of said policy).

According to Pew Research, the Border Patrol recorded 1,659,206 “encounters” with migrants at the southern border in fiscal 2021 (a time period running between Oct. 1, 2020 to Sept. 30, 2021). The last time the Border Patrol saw over 1 million migrants was in 2000. More than 1 million southwest border encounters involved people from countries other than Mexico.

The cartels appear to be making quite a profit as the result of Biden’s border policies. Human smuggling is a billion-dollar enterprise, with some people paying $8,000 to $15,000 to be successfully taken across the border. During fiscal year 2021, the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) seized 9,337 pounds of fentanyl (only two milligrams is considered a lethal dose).

The CBP reports that their resources are being “stretched to near the breaking point” due to President Biden’s border policies.

Dr. Oz also mentioned late night flights of immigrants into cities. In October, The New York Post reported that the Biden Administration was flying underage immigrants to suburban New York “in an effort to quietly resettle them across the region.” Florida Governor Ron DeSantis revealed in November that the Biden Administration was sending a great deal of migrants to the Sunshine State in the same manner. DeSantis’ public safety czar, Larry Keefe, told The Washington Examiner that more than seventy charter flights had landed at the Jacksonville, Florida airport.

GOP officials have been pointing out that immigrants who come here illegally are not being deported under Title 42, a law that would send migrants back during the pandemic. The law was put into place in March 2020 under President Trump. Only single adults are being sent back under Title 42 (although there are reports that there are some young adults being flown into places such as New York and Florida). Unaccompanied minors are being sent to Health and Human Services, where they eventually end up living with sponsors across the country.

To date, the Biden Administration still contends that the border is a problem because of poverty in Central America or even climate change. However, illegal immigration – and how politicians plan to act to handle the problem – will likely be a hot topic for the upcoming 2022 elections.
